Your True Best Friend

6 02 2010

When we think of God we think of an all powerful and knowing being.     When we consider trying to pray to him we can ask ourselves, “why would he want me to communicate with him and will he communicate back?”   This morning as I prayed I thought of him as my friend – my best friend.   Instead of trying to rush through the prayer, I took some time.    What a joy to open up, to share what we are trying to overcome in terms of weaknesses and sins, and to feel his gentle spirit help us to become kinder, to see the good in others more,  to see our sins, to get impressions on what to do to and to see his wonderful hand.   I marvel at how God could care so much for us individually.

We can turn to others to be our best friend, but let me suggest we think of God, or in other words, our Father, as our true best friend.

The Joy of Innovation

3 01 2010

When our focus is on the growth and happiness of others,  as opposed to putting green in our pockets, gaining fame or power,  then miracles can occur.   When a higher power,  a higher motivation, a higher sense of purpose motivates us, then we are anxious to bless others to the fullest extent possible.

To bless others, we need to know what really is best for them.    Sometimes we need to jump in and succor those in need.  Sometimes it is wise to not give too much so that people can learn, grow, and earn happiness for themselves.

Our country’s founding fathers were collectively wise.   Each  had weaknesses and limits in their views – but together they were wise.   They knew, based on personal pain and suffering, that individual freedom was needed.   The shortfall of our founding fathers is that they didn’t initially extend those rights to all of our brothers and sisters.   They knew that some government was needed to protect and bless us, but too much would most certainly destroy us – as demonstrated by most of recorded history.   The desire of some for money, sinful pleasure, fame and power were recipes for disaster.   Our founding fathers knew the tendencies of man and they built in complex checks and balances.  They created the right government that led to huge breakthroughs in innovation and economic strength.

Once our hearts are right and our minds our wise, we are in an incredible position to innovate and bless others.   The miracles of radio, of light, of television, of space travel are inspiring to consider.   There is no end to what can be developed to bless mankind.   Each of us has a deep desire to create and innovate.    These desires give us joy and focus.  It is part of who we are.   Find time to innovate.

Be Careful What You Desire

20 12 2009

There are innumerable books and articles telling you can have all that you desire.  You just need to set you mind, heart and energy to the task of achieving your goals.   There is more truth to all of this than we realize.    The barrier is a lack of personal discipline, consistency,  and understanding of true costs.

There is real joy in setting a difficult goal like learning a foreign language.    We can get frustrated when we realize we can’t learn the language in a few days.   Most throw up their hands too quickly.   Those who are persistent find that something wonderful happens when they stick with it.   The language begins slowly to become second nature.  In time, we find wonderful  joy in communicating in the foreign language and this motivates us further.

Be careful in what you desire.   In the end,  we can accomplish great things.    The question is what to focus on.     What is it that you want to be able to say to yourself just before you pass along?

At some point, we will learn just how foolish the philosophies of man are. We can learn all there is to learn. However there are conditions to this learning. We must learn to be driven by pure charity. It needs to become completely ingrained into our fibers and heart. It must be who we are. As we become pure in our intent and noble in all of our desires – then our ability to see clearly will be magnified. We are told we have been created in the image of God. That point is made clearly as we learn about the creation. Our potential is incomprehensible. Don’t choose to be held back.

What Matters Most?

6 12 2009

We can easily waste a live by pursuing our self-interests. Fame, power, wealth become meaningless. What do you really want – more than anything else? Give that gift to others and watch it come back to you a 100 fold.

The Hand of God

1 12 2009

Take a few minutes each day to record your thoughts in your journey.   As you do this, ponder and record how you were able to see the hand of God that day in your life.   As you do this, your love of God will increase in abundance.

A Much Higher Law To Your Potential

28 11 2009

There is a wonderful way to realizing your potential. It requires faith. It means believing you have a loving Father who believes deeply in your potential. You and I will waste away our precious life if we focus too much and become clouded in our own pursuits. He respects your freedom and won’t force those things that are most precious upon you. It isn’t as hard as you think to hear his voice. He doesn’t discriminate. He isn’t a respecter of persons.  He loves sincerity, a deep desire, willingness to pray and ponder, and faith – even if you initially have doubts but simple have a desire to believe.
