We tend to focus on “who is best” and everything becomes a contest. People and their differences can be such a blessing. What if someone were to ask you, “which of your children or siblings do you love most?” What would you think? What a terrible question. Hopefully you love them each with all of your heart. They are wonderfully different and those differences provide variety and thus tremendous joy. Love is not discriminating. It only discriminates against evil behaviors. When we feel love, our hearts want to find all that is good in others and throughout the world.

How do we best build others? Start be seeing the greatness, the strengths, of the person you hope to help. When you talk with them, do so with love, with gentleness, tenderness, openness, and with confidence in them.

Christians and others learn that there are really only two commandments – to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Be patient with people. There is considerable confusion nowadays. Many have hidden agendas, and so sometimes it takes patience. Help them to trust not in you – but in God. Be patient with them and follow that wonderful spirit you feel at times.

Brilliant post! It is important that we don’t think only of ourselves but also think of ways to help others physically, emotionally, financially and most importantly spiritually. Even without expecting something in return, our acts of kindness always comes back to us in some form.
